WD Austerity 0-6-0ST no.190 at the Colne Valley Railway

This 0-6-0ST number 190 was built in 1952 by the Hunslet Engine Company Ltd. of Leeds for the War Department. It was based on the Austerity design use in the war.  It went to Long Marston and Bicester for use by the Army. It was then transfered to the Royal Engineers at Shoeburyness in Essex in 1968.

The Colne Valley Railway is on a section of the former Colne Valley & Halstead Railway at Castle Hedingham. It has been turned into a working railway from scratch on what was effectively just a green field site. Station buildings have been relocated together with signal boxes and bridges with all the bits needed to build a working railway. There was no station or sidings here when they started.

This 0-6-0ST is on a passenger train as it comes under the foot bridge and into the station at  Castle Hedingham
