Open day at the Rothley workshops
Class 37314 at Rothley station in June 2008
D123 out of Rothley station with the 16ton mineral wagons .
D123 is a Class 45 or Peak and is named Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry . The 126 locomotives of this class were built at the British Railways works at Crewe and Derby between 1960 and 1962 .

0-4-0 Barton at Rothley on the Great Central Railway on the 22nd of June 2008.
This Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 which had a works number of 400 and was built in 1956. This diesel shunter was being used by the Great Central Railway as its Rothley works shunter. It had the name Duke of Edinburgh, but the name was changed some time while at the Barton Quarrys.

BTK 62565 Brake Corridor Third that was built at York in 1927 and was awaiting restoration .
Brake Corridor Third that was built at York in 1927. It is in a poor state and is out in the open. Hopefully some time it can get under cover and work can start on its restoration. With the GCR having so much stock and needing to keep it ever day mark ones in a fit state for its ever day trains, it may have to wait. but hopefully for not to long.
This mark one Buffet is being repaired out side in June 2008. With the GCR having so much stock, and needing to keep it ever day mark ones in a fit state for its ever day trains. Hopefully the new carrige shed being built in 2014, will make the job of keeping carriges better longer uncover far more easy.
When you see how they look when done, it hard hard to think what they looked like when they started. Well done to the back room boys and girls who work unseen

The Great Central Railway runs from Loughborough to Leicester North station close to the Leicester outer ring road. There are stations at Rothey and at Quorn & Woodhouse. The head quarters of the railway is at Loughborough were the engine shed is and the main shop ect. The railway has a large collection of steam and diesel engines
