East Midland Railway Intercity class 222010 at Wellingborough station on the 7th March 2020
There is a new foot bridge at at Wellingborough station but the lift on the far side which was was still being built on the 7th March 2020. These platforms are still being rebuilt at the southern end
EMR HST 43050 on down line into platform 1 on the 7th March 2020
The station canopy is like Kettering station being cut back because of the overhead wires.
I hope it looks better next time I come.

Wellingborough Station
The station now has lots of overhead new wires and posts. These have not gone live yet, I think.
The two fast lines platforms which are numbered 1 and 2 have been used for nearly all the passenger trains for many years.
There was only one slow line, which was used both ways. It was normally only used by freight, although it ran though the old down slow platform no.3. The old up slow platform (4?) was out of use with no track in place or acess from the old footbridge.
Stopping passenger trains will soon use 3 and 4 when all the wires are in use and the fast trains will use platform 1 and 2, that do not not stop here.
The station at Wellingborough is on the Midland Main Line from London to Sheffield. Like other stations on the Midland Main Line there are next train panels giving the present time and when the next train on that platform is due.
Wellingborough station was built in 1857 by the Midland Railway. It was called Wellingborough Midland Road. There was already a station in Wellingborough on the Peterborough to Northampton railway of the LNWR this was called Wellingborogh London Road. London Road station closed in 1966. The two stations were linked by a curve off the mainline. There was a bay platform for trains to Northampton.
The Midland name part of the stations name, was removed after the other station closed. It is now called just, Wellingborough.
To save money one of the slow lines was removed in the 1980s. The remaining track was then signaled both ways. The removed slow line is now being put back.
