GNR class N2 0-6-2T number 1744 (its British Railways number was 69523) was at Hampton Loade station on the Severn Valley Railway in 2009. This class of locomotives locomotive was built by the Great Northern Railway from 1920 and the LNER from 1925. This steam locomotive was designed by Nigel Gresley.
The N2 is owned by the Gresley Society, and is the only one of this class saved. They are perhaps best known for there use at Kings Cross on the commuter trains with the Quad-arts, and taking the ECS of the main line trains, in and out of to Kings Cross station.
This locomotive is based at The Great Central Railway
The SVRs set of Gresley teak coaches adds to GNR atmosphere, even if the station is GWR.
